DES MOINES, Iowa – September 2, 2025 – BH Management Services (BH), a Pretium company and one of the nation’s premier property management platforms in multifamily, student, and build-to-rent housing, announced that Jennifer Schumann will now be General Counsel for both BH Management and Progress Residential, another Pretium company.
Schumann has been with BH since 2018, most recently as General Counsel. In her expanded role with Progress Residential, Schumann will provide legal guidance and advice over both company’s operations, helping to shape business decisions while protecting the company’s interests from legal exposure. She’ll be responsible for overseeing both teams’ corporate and regulatory compliance and risk and litigation management, while continuing oversight of BH’s acquisition due diligence, insurance needs and real estate transactions.
“Jennifer has proven to be a strong leader for our legal, compliance, risk management, litigation, and due diligence teams,” said Joanna Zabriskie. “She will bring her extensive background and knowledge in real estate to her expanded role, overseeing both BH and Progress legal departments.”
Previously, Schumann worked for a real estate developer and property management company handling similar corporate legal needs. Prior to her in-house experience, she worked for several law firms in Chicago handling real estate transactions, community association matters, and litigation issues. Schumann received her Juris Doctorate from Michigan State University and a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Louisville.
Schumann was a 2019 Des Moines Business Record Forty Under 40 Honoree and a member of the 2019 Greater Des Moines Leadership Institute. She has been active in the community, having served on the Board of Directors for Easterseals Iowa (since 2018), prior President of Board of Directors for CREW (Commercial Real Estate for Women) and the Board of Directors for the Des Moines Downtown Chamber.
