BH Executive Q&A Series: Brandy Daniel, Chief Data Officer

March 31, 2025 |

Each month, BH features a different member of our wildly awesome Executive Team. In this Q&A format, they share thoughts on their role, their career, and the direction of the company in their own words. Next up is Brandy Daniel, BH’s Chief Data Officer.

Q: What is the biggest BH challenge you’re currently facing? How will you overcome it?

A: AI offers some really exciting opportunities, but those opportunities come with some big bridges for us to build. Getting data AI-ready is a big task. AI models are only as good as the data they are trained on, so the Data and Analytics Team has the enormous task of ensuring that our data is prepared and structured in a way suitable for training. It must be high-quality, relevant, and well-governed.

We have always focused strongly on the quality and accuracy of our data. Now, we are doubling down on our efforts to remove duplicates, inconsistencies, and outliers autonomously and defining how we can augment our data to enhance our insights.

Q: What is something you are most proud of working for BH?

A: I am proud to be a part of an organization known in the industry for its culture and its spirit of innovation. We are a fearless group that allows for failure in the name of learning. I think that is rare, and I’m proud to be a part of it.

Q: What is your favorite BH value, and why?

A: That’s a hard question because I think they should all be respected. I’ll say the one I find myself coming back to the most is “Do Business the Right Way.” Very often I come to a decision that feels right and the reason it feels right is because it falls into this core value. And that is enough. I am proud to work for an organization that holds that value at its core.

Q: What “keeps you up at night”?

A: All the AI expectations. There are big ideas on what AI can do, and it will do a lot of those things one day, but we aren’t there yet. So, while we get our data ready and work with our partners to get software platforms ready, we have to temper expectations around what is here and what is still to come. Right now, we need to focus on ensuring that the AI we build is ethical and fair.

Q: What helps you sleep at night? (In other words, what things help you handle the everyday challenges of your position?).

A: I support and am supported by the most talented team of unicorns I have ever had the pleasure of working with. I always know I am supported and have strong confidence in my team’s abilities and their passion.

Q: What do you like to do in your free time to relax? A: I read all the books. I like to read about my ever-changing job, how to improve my communication and leadership skills, and read all types of fiction. I just finished Dark Matter, which I heard about on the BH Bookworms Zoom channel. Thank you, Bookworms…that was a good one!
