A friend of mine got denied here for a car loan that she was a co-signer on, years ago. Other than that excellent tenant, excellent income, and they still have not gave her 100$ yet that she paid for the application & it’s been months. Don’t rent here, they can’t do something as simple as making sure if you deny someone, to get their money back in a timely fashion.
Wonderful place. Helpful and humble staff. 1 bed apartments are perfectly designed for a spacious living room, small but neatly planned kitchen, lots of storage space, and a spacious bedroom with closet. The security system is quite effective which is plus for me. Having a gym always helps.
My entire experience since moving in has been HORRIBLE, I haven’t met a single staff member that treats/talks to you like a person. You can make the same concern over and over and will be told that it is being handled but NEVER gets handled I have also discussed this with other residents and they feel the exact same way. Similar issues at different apartments with no resolution??! I DO NOT recommend leasing here and will even be looking to move out early myself. Also the safety concern is not family oriented or even someone living by themselves. Scott village only cares about money and not about their residents.
This apartment complex and management company leaves much to be desired. I have lived here for 3 years and have had issues with maintenance requests since moving in. The bathroom fan sounds like a jet taking off when you have it on (connected to light so there is no option to leave the fan off if you want the light on). My shower faucet constantly runs, despite putting in multiple maintenance requests in which they "fix" the issue, only to have the same issue arise the same day. The laundry machine in our building (which we pay 1.75 for a wash and 1.75 for a dry) has been inoperable for months and when I ask about it they always say they are waiting on a part to arrive..... this machine has been in an inoperable state for going on 3 months, with no remedy in sight. They nickle and dime you every single month with charges outside of your rent, including a $25 monthly "Valet Trash Fee", $5 monthly "Pest Control Fee", $25 monthly "Alarm Charge", $5 monthly "Service Fee" to simply pay your bill (even though they provide 1 option to pay and there is no way to avoid the fee). All of these charges cannot be opted out of. This is not to mention utilities that are not based on your use of the utilities, but rather a prorated amount based on the total fees for the entire complex. Common areas are poorly cleaned and maintained. I would not recommend signing a lease here and would avoid doing any business with this complex/management company.
I love living here! The office and maintenance staff are very helpful and prompt, and my apartment is amazing - everyone who visits me says they want to live here. My favorite part is the beautiful views I have of the sunsets and sunrises over the Des Moines skyline.
