BH Companies Announced as 2021 NAA Best Places to Work Award Winner

June 2, 2021 |

Des Moines, Iowa—June 2, 2021—The National Apartment Association (NAA) today announced BH Companies as a winner of the 2021 NAA Best Places to Work Awards, which recognize member organizations that foster a culture of collaboration, innovation and hard work. Further, the awards pay tribute to management companies and industry suppliers that have gone above and beyond to create safe and engaging work environments despite the challenges of the past year.

“We are very proud of this important award,” said BH Founder and Chairman, Harry Bookey. “As a company, we take a page from hospitality leader and restauranteur, Danny Meyers, who says that when you ‘put employees first, your customers will follow.’”

With more than 2,400 employees, BH currently manages more than 100,000 apartment units throughout the U.S. and has been recognized amongst the “Best Workplaces for Women”, “Best Workplaces for Diversity” and “Best Workplaces for Millennials” by Fortune Magazine.

Employees and their satisfaction determine the best places to work winners and finalists in each of the six categories. An anonymous employee satisfaction survey determines the winners and the results are provided to all nominees to help organizations understand and recognize employee sentiment.

“Being a fantastic company takes hard work. From a focus on healthy living to continual investment in innovation, we pull together to do what’s right for our people and our residents,” said Joanna Zabriskie, CEO at BH.

“Congratulations to BH Companies, your 2021 NAA Best Places to Work award demonstrates your focus on employees, engagement and performance,” said Bob Pinnegar, NAA President and CEO. “Your employees made it clear — BH cares about, listens to and acts upon the needs and ideas of their employees and is a great place to work. NAA appreciates your efforts in fostering a robust workplace culture and the hard work keeping your staff safe over the last year.”
