BH’s “Rent-Free Holidays” program shined even brighter in its second year, bringing joy and relief to residents who needed it most. Last year, BH created happy holiday moments for eight BH resident families by covering their December rent and associated monthly expenses. This year, we dreamed even bigger. With the partnership of our clients, we were able to help 138 resident families by covering a total of $284,000 in rent and expenses.
This large-scale effort has positively impacted the lives of many deserving residents in our communities, during a time of year that can sometimes feel burdensome.
Personal Stories Deserve Personal Care
We received over 200 heartwarming nomination stories from our on-site teams this year – a strong testament to how well our people know their residents. These thoughtfully written submissions were touching and powerful.
Among the awardees were residents fighting health battles – and the financial and emotional toll those can take. Others were single moms trying to support their families, wanting the best for their children. Some faced hardships from being displaced from their apartments after an extreme weather event. Another awardee was selected for his heroism in rescuing animals during a dangerous apartment fire.
For each of the 138 resident families who were awarded a “Rent-Free Holiday,” our teams went the extra mile to deliver the good news. Awardees were presented with oversized checks, balloons, confetti, and flowers. These moments turned “Rent-Free Holidays” into memorable events for both our residents and our team members.
Giving Back
“Giving back to our communities is at the core of what we do at BH, and ‘Rent-Free Holidays’ is quickly becoming one of our favorite ways to do that,” said Joanna Zabriskie, BH’s President & CEO. “We’re grateful to have amazing employees and client partners who really leaned in to make this year even bigger and better than last year.”
“At times we do not realize the simplest gift we are able to bless someone with can be so impactful,” said one of BH’s Community Managers. “We cannot take away the battles and pain (our residents) endured over the past year but blessing them with a month of financial relief is priceless. We could not be prouder to work for a company that is able to provide this end of the year gift to residents in need.”
