Each month, BH features a different member of our wildly awesome Executive Team. In this Q&A format, they share thoughts on their role, their career, and the direction of the company in their own words. This month, we are excited to feature Jennifer Antos, Senior Vice President – BTR, and the newest member of our Executive Team.
Q: What is the biggest challenge you’re currently facing? How will you overcome it?
A: Addressing the growth within our business segment – build-to-rent (BTR) communities – is a challenge. Having growth within the BTR segment is a great problem to have. Our plan to overcome challenges is simple: get the right people in place by staffing with our super smart teams. This includes our onsite teams, remote teams, floating teams, and support teams. Next, we must continue to ensure that we have the right procedures, processes, and policies in place for our build-to-rent (BTR) communities.
Q: What is something you are most proud of working for BH?
A: The way we collaborate within our company. There is definitely something special about this place. I love that we work hard – and even when things are difficult, our teams find a way to get the job done. Plus, we know how to laugh and have fun.
Q: What is your favorite BH value, and why?
A: My favorite BH value is “Have the Guts for Greatness.” I’ve used this as my motto while launching our BTR platform. When things get particularly difficult or challenging, I remember that it takes courage to build something that is truly great. This means that our positive results are very rewarding.
Q: What “keeps you up at night”?
A: A thousand questions. Among them: How can we do better? Is my team happy? Are our clients satisfied?
Q: What helps you sleep at night? (In other words, what things help you handle the everyday challenges of your position?).
A: At the end of the day, knowing that I get to wake up and work with the best people in the industry – team BH!
Q: What do you like to do in your free time to relax?
A: Reading and traveling are my top two ways that I spend my free time. I love to plan adventures when traveling. When my kids were younger, I always planned an excursion that would challenge them or provide them with a new experience.
We’ve gone whitewater rafting, hiked several National Parks (including The Narrows), snowmobiled across the Continental Divide, took a helicopter ride into the Grand Canyon, to name a few. All was good until I surprised them with canyoneering in Zion National Park. For those of you that don’t know what canyoneering is, it is not a peaceful hike up a mountain and a leisurely drop down. It is a brutal climb up a mountain through very small openings in the canyons. You then strap on your gear, step out onto ledges and catapult down (some jumps were over 100 yards). Needless to say, I am no longer allowed to plan excursions on our family vacations.
